PCI Compliance Levels
These are levels of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) self-assessment you need to complete, depending on the gateway type:
- SAQ A
Minimal scope: You never handle cardholder data directly (redirect or hosted fields).
Best for small businesses wanting the least compliance effort. - SAQ A-EP
Expanded scope: Card data passes through your site indirectly (client-side tokenization).
Best for merchants who want design control but are okay with stricter compliance checks. - Full PCI Compliance
Required only if you’re storing or directly transmitting card data (almost never needed with WooCommerce gateways).
Gateway Type
