Order numbers that actually make sense
By default, WooCommerce order numbers are tied to WordPress’s internal post IDs — which can result in gaps, jumps, or numbers that don’t follow a clean sequence. Sequential Order Numbers replaces that with simple, sequential order numbers, starting wherever you choose and counting up in order.
Who it’s for
Great for store owners who want clean, predictable order numbers for customer communication, accounting, or record-keeping — especially useful if you’re migrating from another platform and want order numbers to continue in sequence.
What you get
- True sequential numbering. Order numbers count up one at a time, without gaps caused by drafts, page revisions, or other post types.
- Custom starting number. Choose where your sequence begins, useful for matching numbering from a previous system.
- Consistent across your store. Sequential numbers appear everywhere order numbers are shown — emails, invoices, and the admin order screen.
- Simple, lightweight setup. No complex configuration required to get clean order numbering running.
How it works
Once activated, the plugin takes over how order numbers are assigned, replacing WooCommerce’s default post-ID-based numbering with a true sequential counter. You can set a custom starting number if needed, and every new order going forward will follow cleanly in sequence.
Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Pro version with more features?
Yes, Sequential Order Numbers Pro offers more advanced control over numbering formats and sequences if you need additional flexibility.
