    Question

    Two questions / suggestions:
1 – When creating invoices / packing slips, the product name should be run through wp_strip_all_tags() – I have several customers who insist on using HTML as part of variable product description overrides, and this creates a major annoyance on the PIP templates.

2 – When displaying products that are part of a bundle (https://woocommerce.com/products/product-bundles/), the display order on the packing slip doesn’t always match what is shown to the end-user or store admins. One customer in particular has a step-by-step process for building their bundles, and having the order be shown as step 2, 4, 1, 5, 3 (as an example on one order) doesn’t look good.

Hey Joe, about point 2: returning false to the filter wc_pip_packing_list_group_items_by_category will disable grouping items in packing lists into categories – it looks like that the category grouping is causing the bundled products order to be scrambled; we’re looking into a fix, meanwhile, if grouping by category is not crucial as bundles grouping you could turn that off until we have a solution, thanks!

Hey Joe, thanks for point 1, we’ll look at that in the next fix release. As for Bundles, we’ve worked on this one in the past with the Bundles developer — there’s a filter that could be used to prevent sorting on bundle child products, Bundles would need to implement it though. I’ll reach back out to see if this one is still on the Bundles roadmap 🙂

    Question

    Hey!
Is it possible to translate the textfields on the printouts? Invoice, Billing address, Shipping address and everything else?

    • Johan

Thanks Beka! Found out how to do it, for anyone interested:
      extract the zipfile/plugin,
download the program Poedit and open it,
open the file woocommerce-pip.pot found in the folder woocommerce-pip/i18n/languages in the extracted zip file.
You will find every textstring used in the plugin when the file is opened. Start translating…

Hi Johan, the plugin is translation-ready so any of the text fields it adds can be adjusted — the text domain is: woocommerce-pip

    Question

Is it possible to change the location of the billing address, so that the address is visible in a window envelope.

    • Beka Rice

hey Christoph, I’m afraid we don’t have any settings for this because of the vast differences in where people want addresses shown (ie as a shipping label, in an envelop window to the left, in an envelope window to the right, removed completely, etc). Since this varies so widely, we’ve added ample hooks to the plugin and template files that can be customized, so this could be customized with the help of a developer.

  4. dan procter

    Question

wondering with pick lists if you can have one list that sums up all orders so when picking products you pick them all at once – e.g. i order ten hats, you order 3 the pick list shows 13 hats need to be picked across 2 orders. your documentation says it does this but the screen shot and demo dont show it as its written

    Cheers

    • Beka Rice

Heya Dan! So to make sure I understand you, you’d want the pick list to show overall totals for the selected orders, not the compressed list of items (grouped by order) as it stands currently? So the order data isn’t needed in this case?

    • Beka Rice

Hey Khairul, I’m afraid the plugin does not send invoices to anyone but the customer automatically. However, we have some sample snippets for this kind of customization, if you’d like to submit a help request we’d be happy to point you in the right direction.

    Question

Does the plugin allow the packing list print format to be configured? I would like to print the packing lists to labels to stick on the outside of produce boxes. Possible with your plugin? Thanks!

    • Beka Rice

Hey Jason, the packing list has a limited number of options you could configure, but would most likely require customization to be able to fit a printed shipping label specification. Sorry I don’t have better news for you here!

    Question

How about credit notes for refunds?

    • Henrik Gregersen

Hi Beka.. Sorry I did not respond to this I did not notice your reply. Woocommerce is lacking a very big feature. The option to actually create a credit note for customers.

A credit note is basically a reverse invoice, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_note

Woocommerce only option to actually return items is through refunds. But it does a poor job when it comes to partially returns. There may be very different reasons why you have to refund / create a credit note.

In ERP systems and for accounting a credit note is a separate order posted into a credit note. In woocommerce it is not possible to create a negative order.

And I think this should be possible. A refund should basically create a negative order, and link the sales order with the negative order. This is what accountants expect to see in you accounts.

With this limitation in mind, a creditnote is based on a refund, but the best solution would be if Woocommerce was able to cope with accounting standards.

What exactly would you be looking for? We definitely have refund slips (that you would send with the order including your refund codes) next up once we launch our rewrite (should be this week or next), but I’d love to hear what you’d look for in a credit note. thanks 🙂

Sure thing, it can be translated with something like the Say What plugin — the string is “View Invoice” and the text domain is woocommerce-pip
