While conquering Middle Earth has never been on our agenda, it is our quest to make extensions easier for us to manage while providing greater value to our customers. To that end, we’ve unified our XML and CSV Export plugins into the WooCommerce Customer / Order / Coupon Export plugin.
Let’s embark on a fellowship of our own to walk through the upgrade process and some of the features we’re excited to share with you in this latest version.
If you’re currently using the WooCommerce CSV Export plugin, all you need to do is ensure your plugin is updated to version 5.0! ???? Not sure how to update or having trouble with the update process? Click here to read WooCommerce’s documentation on updating extensions.
If you’re currently using the WooCommerce XML Export plugin, you’ll soon see an update to that plugin, which will include a one-click migration to the WooCommerce Customer / Order / Coupon Export plugin. The WooCommerce.com team has gifted a subscription for the new plugin to your account to match (and then replace) your current XML Export subscription.
We’re Samwise-talking-taters-level excited about this feature—Customer / Order / Coupon Export can now support multiple automated exports!
Previously, you could only send one automated export, which meant you had to decide which system to update based on your order and customer activity. It was kind of like trying to choose your favorite hobbit. With multiple auto-exports, you can now send orders and customers in different formats, to different locations (email, FTP, or HTTP POST), and on different schedules.
Once they’re set up, your exports will continue to run automatically on your defined schedules, so you can sit back and let this plugin take care of managing tedious tasks such as:
- Adding new emails to your mailing list
- Creating new records in your CRM
- Sharing orders with your fulfillment service as they’re paid
- Assembling daily order reports to your management team
We’re particularly excited about sending customers and orders to Zapier via HTTP POST, which opens up countless other ways to automate your workflow!
Maybe this goes without saying, but you can now export to CSV and XML formats from the unified Customer / Order / Coupon Export plugin! While this might seem obvious from the name—you can create multiple custom formats with this plugin as well.
In addition to all the customer, order, and coupon fields you’d expect, you can also add custom meta and static values to your custom formats. This lets you get your file format just right for every situation and system with which it needs to integrate.
We know your time is valuable, so we spent a lot of time streamlining the navigation and setup process to make it simpler and more intuitive. Here are a couple highlights!
Configure and run manual exports from one tab
In previous versions, you had to swap between multiple tabs to configure an export and run it manually. Now, you can take care of all of that in one place!
Quickly run the right export from the Orders or Users tab
Need to export some orders or customers in a hurry? You can handle that directly from the Orders or Users tab, and now when you run the Download to CSV or Download to XML bulk action, you’ll see a modal to let you pick the format, file name, and other settings. Those settings are then stored for future manual exports so you can use them again next time!
You can also automatically export and send orders or customers using a predefined transfer method, right from the Orders or Users page!
